Abbeville
Institute Presentations Honoring Professor Clyde Wilson
The
Institute awards Dr. Clyde Wilson its highest honor, making him the M. E.
Bradford Distinguished Fellow of the Abbeville Institute
Institute President,
Donald Livingston, presents Clyde Wilson with a copy of I'll Take My Stand
signed by Robert Penn Warren (the generous gift of an anonymous donor)
And as a fitting tribute to
a native son of Carolina, the Institute commissioned a bagpipe tune to be
written in his honor. John Livingston composed and performed a slow air,
which he titled "Carolina Cavalier," the name Dr. Wilson had given
to the noble and learned Confederate officer
James Pettigrew. But there is room for more than one Carolina Cavalier !
Clyde
Wilson: "With the exception of my children, the people I care about most
in this world are in this room this evening."
