According to Representative Zoe Lofgren of California, secession is now being advocated by “rational people, not the fringe.”

This is an insult to all rational people.

Rational people for generations have supported secession, including every scholar at the Abbeville Institute. But now that idiot Leftists in California, Oregon, and Washington are for it, somehow secession has become “rational.”

I think George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Patrick Henry, James Monroe, John Rutledge, Francis Marion, Nathaniel Macon, John Taylor, John Tyler et. al. were “rational people” who favored secession. So did a host of Yankees from that great generation of men.

Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and “Stonewall” Jackson were also “rational people,” more so than the “esteemed” representative from California.

How about Sam Houston and David Crockett? They seemed to be “rational.”

Would she consider Yankees like Lysander Spooner, William Lloyd Garrison, Daniel Webster, and Thomas Pickering to be “rational people?” Secession worked for them, too.

Alas, this is the world in which we live, the world the Yankees made.

Once professor at UCLA grumbled that secession can’t happen because a constitutional mechanism doesn’t exist. He  earned his degree from an “outstanding” research institution (Yale) and now is the director of The Center for American Politics and Public Policy. You see, this professor believes the issue was “settled by the Civil War.” Since when has any legal issue been “settled” by war? A bully can bloody their opponent, but that never solves the issue, particularly one over legal interpretation. And the evidence is all on the side of secession.

Perhaps this is the best anyone who believes in decentralization can hope for. Once the Yankees figure out it is good idea, then we can all sit around the campfire, hold hands, sing a few songs, wish them well, and send them on their way. As Lincoln made a miraculous political discovery that the Union was “indissoluble,” perhaps these modern day Lincolnians can arrive at a new discovery, that secession is, after all, legal.

That would be rational. It’s something we’ve been saying for years. Welcome to the party. We won’t fight to keep you around.
