Laura Ingraham, one of Fox’s pseudo-conservative “Republican” (not republican) taxers of bygone days who collects information the way so (too) many do: from silliness distilled from artless rumor, especially from Southern history, where Yankees design “historical” Ponzi schemes that Bernie Madoff would admire i.e it is meant to sound good but is always a lie!
In a typical feeble attempt at historical expertise, she said on “X”:
“We are rejecting the argument of the old slave-owning South that we need an endless supply of cheap labor for American business owners to survive.”
These cheesy experts on Southern history blather quite often about that which they know little or nothing, in any event, while they gather research from some histrionic historical clambake put together by counterfeit or at least novice historians and their holier-than-thou pretentious Pilgrim puffers–if they research at all.
“An endless supply of cheap labor for American business owners to survive”?
This is the kind of trite juvenile nonsense that is saved by these Republicans (again, not republicans) for anti-Democrat derision vs pro Republican angelic persuasion from God himself. And the truth is that neither are tied into any vein of truth. Swarms of both know no more about “slavery” than they know about July the Fourth. And God? It’s anybody’s guess as to what they think about Him.
But certainly, we MUST assume that they know less about cheap labor and American business owners than did Tocqueville or Dickens. Though shouldn’t they know more? After all, whether believers of nation or union they are indigenous to this land seeded in Virginia, not Plymouth. However fat chance, with today’s brood of modernity’s “educators.”
Slavery? I would be surprised if Ms. Ingraham knows who “enslaved” most American slaves and who made great fortunes on their lives and deaths.
And these people continue to pour into our (at least mine) beloved South decrying “Dixie” and bringing their Yankee minds and limited national (now socialists) intellect with them. Florida is now NEW New York and Texas is becoming California. And such ilk as Ted Cruz and Linsey Graham are the replacements for Gavin Newsom and Chuck Schumer.

Of a piece with sentences like this “The author also explores the sleight of intellect practiced by Jefferson, a slave owner who deplored slavery and used his rhetorical skills to cast the cause of states’ rights as a question of liberty.” By Meghan Cox Gurdon in Rupert Murdoch’s Mockingbird media unit, the Wall St. Journal, once a reasonably decent source of truth.
I think Ms Ingram should go read the real Lincoln and other books and get an education and understanding

Thanks for highlighting the Matt Walsh “What Schools Don’t Teach You About the Civil War”. Excellent, right down to explaining how Lincoln’s War wasn’t a “civil war.” It is so hard to think straight when you aren’t calling things by the right name. BTW, such manipulation language (calling it a civil war) is an early tell you are dealing with dishonest people.
Walsh is brave and always thoughtful. I’d have him dwell more on nailing down controversial facts, but he is never plodding.
There’s plenty of so called republicans, locally conservatives that continue to push propaganda165 years on.
There were slave states in the union before, during, and after the war, and brown and yale are still named after slave traders. The entire colonial new england economy was pretty much based on the demand created by human trafficking, which is exactly what’s going on now. People like this only exist because you keep arguing with them, all you have to do is basically make those first two statements and that’s the end of it. When it comes to the yankee pea brain, it’s a matter of cognitive dissonance that is rarely overcome.

Ingraham, if Slavery was cheap labor, then gradual compensated emancipation would have been cake. It was very expensive actually, and quality work in many cases – too good even

The average price of a slave was $400 in 1850, as that was close to the average price for the entire antebellum period. This would be approximately $17,185 in 2026 prices. The average slave price in 1850 was roughly equal to the average price of a house, so the purchase of even one slave would have given the purchaser some status. Now what was that nonsense about cheap labor?

It was yankee shipowners who demanded slaves be imported for an additional 20 years after the Constitution was adopted. She’s just another game show host…playing to her crowd. We will truly be blessed if and when ai displaces these elite-weights. I’d enjoy listening to Max Headroom discuss the Corwin Amendment or perhaps how South Carolina fired upon supply ships at Sumter months before lincolon pretended wars began over a few rounds tossed downrange.
Republicans will never be a friend to the South, they just rely on our votes. Democrats are socialists (the perfect modern version of the violent1860 Republican party) and they hate us even worse. They both hate us.
We have zero representation and we are basically being held hostage by a country that, a la Lincoln, just wants our revenues, the land we have so they can put a second or third home on, and access to warm weather.
